Is there a difference between raw honey and organic honey?
Raw honey is minimally processed and essentially comes direct from the hive without any heat treatment, pasteurisation or additional processing or artificial additives. Organic honey is also raw, of course, but is produced from nectar collected from purely organic sources. This means organic apiaries are always located a certain distance from farmland and urban gardens, as well as other potential sources of contamination. Just like in certified organic fruit and vegetable production, raw honey that is also labelled as organic honey means meeting additional standards from an independent certifying body.
