Eggs Free Range Honest Egg Co. 600g
Wholesome eggs from local Daylesford hens, moved to fresh pastures weekly and fed a natural diet. Chook density is a very roomy 30 hens per ha, much less than the 10,000 per ha the questionable free range legislation allows. When unavailable, we substitute with other truly free range eggs.
All profits go to CERES, a registered charity growing food, community and climate solutions.
What does 'free range' mean? Federal legislation defining what constitutes free range egg farming came into effect in early 2018. The maximum outdoor stocking density for free range egg farming is 10,000 hens per hectare of land or one hen per square metre. Hens must be able to roam and forage outdoors for at least eight hours each day. These eggs come from a regenerative farm, part of permaculture farming method that is naturally regenerative for the land, with a chook density of 30 hens per hectare.
