Fuji is actually a Japanese apple and not just some kind of made-up marketing name. Bred at a research station in Fuijisaki in the 1930’s the result of a red delicious & rawls jennet cross, it made its public debut in the 1960’s (similar timing to Gala). Today it's Japan and China’s most popular apple (8 out of 10 Chinese apples are fujis) and deservedly so – nothing beats a good fuji and if I knew how to pull one off I’d write a haiku in it's praise.
