At Fernleigh Farms, the Chambers family are to the raising and preservation of rare and nearly extinct breeds of livestock, including the Shropshire sheep and Wessex Saddleback pig. They also grow vegetables such as carrots, spuds and other assorted veggies.
The region is particularly rich, providing an already strong base from which to practise organic farming. The Chamber Family naturally build on the quality of the soil, and pesticides and chemicals are of course banned on the farm and in production. Fernleigh Farms uses green manure crops and paddock rotations using livestock to nurture the soil on the farm.
